Step By Step Guide To Driving Instructor Training
Step 1: Initial Application Criteria
To become ADI (an approved driving instructor) in the UK you must :
Have held a UK driving licence for at least 3 years
Have no more than 6 points on your driving licence
Be able to read a licence plate at 90 feet (27.5m) - use of contact lenses or glasses is fine
Step 2: DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service)

Step 3: Training For The ADI Part 1 Test

Step 5 : Training For The ADI Part 3 Test
The part three test when applying to become a driving instructor is the third and final test, it establishes your ability to teach learner drivers.
The training is broken into easy to follow bite-sized sections. Using video, structured private sessions, visual training systems and coaching exercises you will cover:
communication skills; route planning; pupil observation and assessment, basic coaching skills; the 17 competencies; fault indication and analysis; level of instruction; control of lesson; question and answer; feedback and encouragement and test preparation.

(Mistakes can happen but don`t worry as in the unlikely event that you that you fail a test, further training is provided so you can go again up to 3 times in total).
Step 6: Congratulations - You Are A Full ADI Driving Instructor
